MINISTER’S MESSAGE 22ND DECEMBER 2019

What do you do when you’ve got nothing to do? With most of us off work, with all the shops closed, and our favourite T.V. series on hiatus, many of us will have time to spare over the Christmas period. So what do you do when you’ve got nothing to do? Netflix and chill? Wonder around aimlessly?
Christmas is the time of year when we celebrate of our Lord’s arrival. The arrival of the prince of peace, so why not prepare to be at peace? It seems like a funny thing to say, prepare to be at peace, but by doing so, I think it can help us to fully engage with what Christmas offers us. Apart from the mind boggling fact that on our God’s arrival into our/his world ensures us that through him we could be restored and one day go to live in heaven. Christmas offers  time to reflect on; why is Christmas a holiday? Why are shops closed, and though we may like them to be open would we really want other people to be working when we have time off? And when I have nothing to do what do I do?
Can you simply enjoy the freedom you have and relax in peace, or do you need distractions to get through the day? What will you do when you have nothing to do?
This is my last Minister’s message for the year and following Christmas day I’ll be on leave through to the 12th of January. So have a Merry Christmas, a Happy New Year and may God bless you all.
In Christ
