Worship Services

Our worship services are the time when the greatest number of people in the church, meet most regularly.

Eugene Peterson (pastoral writer and translator of The Message) states that Sunday worship is when the people of God meet and encounter Word and Sacrament and are empowered to live for Jesus for another week. Our worship involves prayer, the preached word, singing, creative ministry and engagement with the spirit. The worship service is the highlight of any church’s weekly rhythm.

But, how is this mission? It is mission because worship of God is what we are created for. When Israel was brought out of Egypt it was for the purpose of worshipping God (Exodus 8:1).

When we worship, we model to the world the following:

  • The wonder of different people gathering for the sole purpose of honouring God
  • The divine wisdom of taking time to draw aside from daily routine to worship
  • A vision of heaven, in that we will one day worship God in glory
  • The fact that Jesus Christ has died, risen and is present by His Spirit.
  • That we eagerly await His promised return when His Kingdom is established on earth
  • That the power of God is present among us
  • Grace and truth of Jesus Christ that transforms lives

In short – worship is demonstrating to the world how God intended life to be enjoyed.
