Last Sermon
Hi there,
Each of us is raised into a light-filled world by our Father so that we can see where we’re going in our new grace-sovereign country. Could it be any clearer? Our old way of life was nailed to the cross with Christ, a decisive end to that sin-miserable life—no longer at sin’s every beck and call! What we believe is this: If we get included in Christ’s sin-conquering death, we also get included in his life-saving resurrection. We know that when Jesus was raised from the dead it was a signal of the end of death-as-the-end. Never again will death have the last word. When Jesus died, he took sin down with him, but alive he brings God down to us. From now on, think of it this way: Sin speaks a dead language that means nothing to you; God speaks your mother tongue, and you hang on every word. You are dead to sin and alive to God. That’s what Jesus did.
(Romans 6:5-11, The Message)
In this Easter season – this is a tremendous passage of Scripture to absorb! In this season when we especially marvel at the power of the resurrection. I love the way The Message describes life for the believer now. The way it describes the change in our life. “From now on, think of it this way: Sin speaks a dead language that means nothing to you; God speaks your mother tongue, and you hang on every word.” Does sin have your attention? Do you enjoy its language? Or is your heart instead thrilled by the sound of the Father’s voice? Do you hang on His every Word?
Easter focuses us again on the story of Divine love and redemption. The suffering, death and victory of Jesus. In this season the Father speaks His love as He does every day. In this season He reminds us through the Scriptures of the extent to which sin invades human life and the extent to which He went to, to change that. The extent of His love. So – what is it the Father speaks to you in the mother tongue this Easter? Don’t listen to the enticing yet empty claims and promises sin peddle to you. You are dead to that. You have been raised to a new life in Christ. Begin speaking the mother tongue to your Father – start with thanksgiving and praise! Blessings to you all
