 PEPC Home Groups

At Papakura East and Hunua, we hold small groups that meet in people’s homes, quite literally called “Home Groups”.

The objective of these groups is three-fold:
  •  To create a space for people to connect at a deeper level.
  •  To provide space for sharing thoughts and spiritual growth.
  •  To be intentional about reaching out to new Christians or struggling individuals.

Home Groups occur many times during the week. So why not find one thats right for you.

To join?

To join a Home Group, a good place to start looking for information is in our Weekly Newsletter. This Newsletter contains Group times and contact information.
We also have similar information on our Calendar Web Page. This page displays the group name and when a group meets. Contact information can be obtained by contacting our office.
Contacting one of the leaders in our church is also a good option if you would like some assistance.

What we strive to model:

  • To be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, and faithful in prayer.
  • To devote to one another in brotherly and sisterly love.
  • To share possessions with each other and to practice hospitality.
  • To rejoice with those who rejoice and mourn with those who mourn.
  • To embody the fruits of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.
  • To encourage the gifts of the Spirit as we recognize them in each other.

Any and all of these Home Groups are open for you to be a part of! Simply contact the leader of the group you're interested in, or talk to a church leader for more information.
If you have an interest in starting your own Home Group you will need to talk to a church leader who will be able to assist you getting up and started.

Auva'a

The Auva'a house group meets weekly (except school holidays) at 8.pm on Wednesdays.

Our home group is based around Psalm 1. We look at different aspects of Christian living and how to apply it in our everyday lives. We start with desert and tea/coffee, unwinding and fellowshiping over homebaking in the kitchen. We then move into the lounge for the teaching and discussion part of the evening.

We have a variety of members ranging in culture and age from 17 to over 70 with some coming from other churches. This brings great cultural and spiritual variety and much depth to our discussions, our learning and our understanding of people's make-up. Whilst we lead most meetings we value each and everyone's contribution, and the role is often shared with our members. One of the highlights this year has been enjoying the input from our younger members and the "oldies" being spiritual blessed by their input.

We like to follow the Christian calendar and often our discussions will theme for several weeks around these events. Using scripture, our focus is building up people, sharing and caring for their needs and supporting them in their walk with God. The spiritual gifts are exercised and prayer for each other is of high importance.

Brock’s

This group meets fortnightly on a Wednesday 7.30pm - 9.30pm. At present we are an all women group.

We are using the E 100 Bible readings to explore the history of our faith and in so doing are finding how we encounter God’s grace and truth in our everyday lives.

Cook Island

The focus of this group is study from the Scriptures. After a time of teaching there is opportunity for discussion and questions. This group is conducted in Cook Island language.

Frazerhurst

This group follows a particular study focussing on discipleship. There is a range of people attending with a slight bent towards young families.

Hunua

This group was launched as a way to help cultivate an understanding of the essentials of the Christian faith for one person who had shown an enthusiasm to find out. So its foundations were as a sort of discipleship group.

We started meeting in her home once a week and have continued doing so now for close to 2 years. The group has evolved into a fellowship and bible study evening. A few others have joined us from the Hunua church. Since it started 9 people have been involved.

We use the time to fellowship, grow in friendship, share one another’s burdens, pray and collectively unlock more substance from the bible by using studies such as the E100.

An important aspect is reporting back how we have practically applied our Christian faith in the non-Christian world and in encouraging our members to continue growing in Christ’s love.

Mack place

We are a diverse group that aim to meet every Wednesday.

Our aim is to encourage each other in all God is calling us to. We encourage everyone to be part of the decision-making and functioning of the group.

After much discussion we have decided on some core objectives, we want to disciple families, each other and those who don’t know Christ. We aim to be the best that we can be and keep each other accountable.

To do this effectively we engage in prayer with each other and for each other, our families, the wider church, our community and our country. We encourage the gifts of the Spirit. Leadership is spread over the whole group and turns are taken in leading the group.

Our study topics are varied and wide ranging. One of the joys of our group is the diverse individual passions. It is a safe place to voice an opinion and enjoy sound biblical discussion.

Parry’s

The Group that meets fortnightly at the Parrys’ home, we are a large group. Our evenings are focussed on activities to increase and strengthen our knowledge of God.

We enjoy singing and at every meeting there is opportunity for praise.

Our “knowledge“ time can be an in depth exegetical study of a section of scripture or it can be a theme with contemporary over tones or a reflection on church traditions and traditions in worship.

We always conclude our evenings with intercessory prayer and supper.

Ted’s

One of the “small groups” that PEPC runs, is one on every second Friday afternoon, for those folk who find it easier to put this time aside to explore aspects of the Christian faith with others.

Currently, we are looking at the E100 series of readings, which give a general “over-view” of what the Bible is all about.

While we explore how the Bible relates to every-day living, we share each other’s experiences in a discussion type setting.

Anyone who would like to join with us at 1:30 pm each other Friday would be very welcome!
